Albion defender Ruairi McConville completes move and eyes Championship play-off race
Albion defender Ruairi McConville is heading to the Championship play-off race on a permanent deal.
He has signed for Norwich City, for undisclosed terms, on a contract running until June, 2030.
The Northern Ireland centre-back recently made his senior debut as a substitute in the FA Cup tie at Carrow Road.
But he is keen for more regular first-team senior football.
It is believed he is moving for an initial fee of £1.5 million, rising to £2.75 million via add-ons.
McConville will join former Seagulls favourite Shane Duffy among the Canaries defensive ranks.
Albion technical director David Weir said: “Ruairi wants to play regular senior football and establish himself.
“The offer from Norwich City is a very good one for the club, as well as giving Ruairi that opportunity, and we wish him the best of luck for the future.”
Alvion added to their defensive ranks on Friday night when they signed Eiran Cashin from Derby County, restoring them to four fit and available senior and specialist centre-backs.
McConville, formerly of Linfield, was handed his Northern Ireland senior debut as a substitute in a 2-0 win over Belarus in November last year.
He then started a 2-2 draw with Luxembourg.
Norwich are eighth in the Championship, just two points off the play-off places, after their weekend win at Watford.
