Albion Rovers boss pleased by performance despite Tranent holding them to draw
Albion Rovers boss Sandy Clark insists he was really pleased with his side’s performance, despite being held to a 2-2 draw at home to Tranent.
The Wee Rovers rallied from 1-0 down to lead 2-1 thanks to a quick response with goals from Dom McMahon and Peter Mendy inside the first 31 minutes on Saturday.
However, a Dean Brett penalty for the visitors ensured Rovers’ first home game in almost five weeks ended in a draw.
Clark’s side remain seventh in the table ahead of travelling to Broxburn Athletic tonight and the gaffer said: “I was really pleased with Saturday, to be honest. I thought it was a really good game and I am always pleased for the fans when they get that situation.

“We lost a goal against the run of play and then did really well to get 2-1 ahead. We continued to make chances in the game and we just couldn’t get the third goal. A mistake in the box cost us a penalty and Tranent equalised with that.
“While a draw is not the worst result in the world, three points would have been a massive boost to us.
“I was so pleased with so many things in the game and it is hard to complain too much. Hopefully we can kick on.”
Rovers welcome Gretna 2008 to Cliftonhill on Saturday and Clark added: “This league is so unpredictable. We had a good result down at Gretna in the first game of the season and managed to get three points.
“We know we are good enough to win the game, but Gretna will make it hard for us. We want to keep getting as many points on the board as we can and see where it takes us.”
