Alejandro Garnacho has already sent Enzo Maresca clear message amid Chelsea transfer talks
Chelsea are yet to act in the January transfer market with the Blues considering their options before the window closes at the beginning of next month.
A number of positions are being looked at; including centre-back, left wing and striker. At centre-back, Chelsea were very short but the club decided to recall Trevoh Chalobah from his loan at Crystal Palace last week to bolster Enzo Maresca's options. However, football.london understands there are still conversations internally about adding another centre-back but such a move seems likelier in the summer.
A centre-forward is also being considered with the club keen to ease the burden on Nicolas Jackson, who has started 19 of Chelsea's 21 Premier League games this season. Liam Delap from Ipswich Town is an option, as is Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, but there has been no movement on that front this month just yet.

Also a left-sided winger is being looked at - with multiple players being spoken about behind the scenes. The three names that football.london has learned about are Mathys Tel, Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho. Whether a move will be made this month, or the club wait until the summer, remains to be seen, however.
Garnacho has started just three of United's 11 Premier League matches since Ruben Amorim was appointed in November, albeit the new United manager's system does not tend to use out-and-out wingers. Despite Amorim stating the Argentine does indeed have a future at Old Trafford, United are said to be open to selling the winger as they look to abide with the Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability Rules.
There is no guarantee that Chelsea do make a move for the 20-year-old winger, but he is one of several players in that position the club are interested in. If he was to sign, then he has already made it perfectly clear where he feels he plays best when he is on the pitch.
Speaking to Man United's media team in November 2022, Garnacho explained: "I've always liked to play out wide on the left, as a right-footed player able to cut inside. To be able to play as a right-footed player down the left, you also have to be pretty decent with your weaker foot.
"From an early age, I've always practiced hard using both feet, because that makes you into a much better player. So, nowadays, I can play with both feet - not to perfection but to a good standard."
At the moment, Chelsea have Jadon Sancho as their man option on the left wing. Pedro Neto can be used out there - and has been this season - but Maresca feels the Portugal international is better utilised on the right wing.
Mykhailo Mudryk is not an option at the moment with the Ukrainian failing a drugs test last month and being provisionally suspended from football by the FA. Maresca was asked about the 24-year-old winger on Friday afternoon but was unable to offer too much of an update on the ongoing situation.
"I don't know. I don't know," Maresca said when asked for an update on Mudryk. "We are close with Misha as a club and we are trying to help him but in terms of an update, I don't have any update on the situation."
