Alejandro Garnacho has said he "enjoyed" playing in Man United's Europa League victory over Rangers on Thursday night - as his future at Old Trafford remains uncertain.

The Argentine played the full 90 minutes against the Scottish Premiership outfit as Bruno Fernandes' late goal put United on the brink of qualifying for the knockout stages.

Many, though, have speculated whether Thursday night could be Garnacho's last appearance at Old Trafford, with Chelsea and Napoli linked with a move for the forward.

However, Garnacho seemed to reaffirm his desire to remain at United as he posted an Instagram story on Friday night, writing: "Enjoyed that last night".

The Manchester Evening News understands that the Argentine is not actively looking to leave the club this month, though United are open to selling the forward if they receive an acceptable offer.

Last week, Serie A leaders Napoli had an offer of £40m rejected for Garnacho. However, it is understood that United's PL rivals Chelsea are now leading the race for Garnacho.

United would reluctantly sell a prized academy product amid their struggles to comply with the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules. Sources say United are under increasing pressure to sell a highly-valuable academy player, which would represent a pure profit under the PSR rules.

Garnacho joined United from the Atletico Madrid academy when he was 16 in 2020. United also want to sell Marcus Rashford, although a loan move is likelier this month.

The end of the financial year is June 30 and, while the summer transfer window will be open by then, the winter window has become more opportunistic for clubs looking to prey on the financial uncertainty at Premier League teams.
