Former Liverpool star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is being linked with a return to English soccer and a reunion with Rhian Brewster.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, 31, is currently playing for Turkish side Besiktas but hasn't started a league game this season. According to reports in Turkey, Championship team Sheffield United is interested in signing the former Liverpool midfielder this month.

If he joins the Blades, Oxlade-Chamberlain will play alongside former Liverpool teammate Brewster, the 24-year-old striker who started his professional career with the Reds. The pair were both part of the Liverpool squad that won the Champions League in 2019.

United is currently second in the Championship, two points clear of Burnley in third, and trying to achieve an immediate return to the Premier League after relegation last term. Blades boss Chris Wilder is looking to bolster his midfield after losing vice captain Ollie Arblaster to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

It's believed no talks have taken place between United and Oxlade-Chamberlain's representatives as of yet. The Championship team has also been linked with Southampton's Shea Charles - who has just completed a loan spell at bitter rival Sheffield Wednesday - Wolves' Tommy Doyle, and Leicester City's Hamza Choudhury.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made 146 appearances during a six-year spell with Liverpool, helping the team win several trophies - including the Premier League and Champions League. He joined Besiktas in August 2023 and helped the team win the Turkish Cup last term.

Brewster, meanwhile, left Liverpool for the Blades in October 2020 in a £23.5 million ($29 million) deal. The former England youth international has struggled with form and fitness during his time in South Yorkshire, scoring just six goals for the club.

United States-based consortium COH Sports completed a takeover of United last month and is expected to invest in Wilder's squad this month to boost the team's chances of promotion. The Blades announced the signing of Ben Brereton Diaz, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Bramall Lane, from Southampton on Monday.

"He's a player I've admired for a long time," Wilder told the BBC on Monday. "I always had it in the back of my mind when he left us at the end of the season that one day we'd reunite. He impressed so many people in a difficult season. It's a good signing for us and I'm delighted that he wanted to come back here. It's a great fit for us."
