Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold described the 4-0 Boxing Day win at Leicester as his side’s “best game of the season.”
The 21-year-old England international put in a man of the match performance which included a goal and two assists.
The result sees Liverpool, who won the FIFA Club World Cup with victory over Flamengo in Qatar last weekend, extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to 13 points.
“We played really good football, especially after all of the travelling and intensity of the games,” Alexander-Arnold told Amazon Prime Video. “So, if you take that into account, then yes it is probably our best game of the season.”
“We controlled the game and they never created many chances,” he said.
“To get four goals at a place like this is something to be proud of.”

Roberto Firmino opened the scoring at the Kingpower Stadium before a James Milner penalty doubled Liverpool’s advantage. Firmino then made it 3-0 on 74 minutes with Alexander Arnold rounding off a convincing victory for the runaway league leaders shortly after.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp told Amazon that his team had “a good start to the game and a good finish, but in between we had a lot of work to do.
“The boys were ready for this game, in a very difficult period of the year, and we played a lot of good football.”
Klopp refused to get carried away despite his side’s huge advantage atop of the Premier League table, instead choosing to focus on the fixtures that lie ahead.
“In three days we play Wolves, they are having an exceptional season. In six days we play Sheffield United, they are playing an exceptional season. Then we play Everton (in the FA Cup).
“After we play Tottenham, I think, then (Manchester) United. That is really a tough schedule still.
“With all the things around us and what people talk (about), the biggest quality of the boys is we are not listening really.
“We are completely focused on what we have to do.”
