Alexander Isak fury explained, Howe hits back at Postecoglou and Newcastle warrior's unseen act

Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak took objection to being shoved off the field by Tottenham Hotspur stars Archie Gray and Sergio Reguilón.

The Sweden striker was taken off with four minutes of regulation time remaining but appeared not to be aware that his number was up. This led to ex-Leeds man Gray and Reguilon storming over to try to speed up the substitution much to Isak's annoyance.

Gray could be seen mouthing: "That's you. Come on that's you." Eventually, Isak did go off but only after referee Andrew Madley compounded the moment by issuing a yellow card.

Isak got over his frustration soon after the final whistle after joining in the applause and looking delighted in the team photo afterward. After taking his tally to 14 for the season he had every right to be!

Now what price a goal or two against the side that want to sign him so badly on Tuesday? It's Arsenal next up.

Eddie Howe's honest verdict on Joelinton handball

After Ange Postecoglou had vacated the press room after a stormy media conference, Howe was then inevitably asked his verdict on the Joelinton handball episode.

With the rules clearly stating that it's fine if the player's arm is by his side, Howe stuck to the letter of the law himself when quizzed. Howe told Chronicle Live: "I can't sit here and lie and say I haven't seen it because I have. It definitely hit Joelinton's arm I can give you that.

"But I am not in control of the ref's decision. I believe his arm is down and in a natural position. I believe the referee and VAR have followed the rules that are in place."

Anthony Gordon could not be denied his moment at the end

The Scouse star had suffered a few nasty whacks during the clash at Spurs not least when he was smashed in the face by Dejan Kulusevski. The incident left Gordon with a bloody nose and he was eventually taken off as medics struggled to deal with the issue.

But Gordon was straight on to the field to celebrate with his team-mates and will be patched up and sent back into action back here in North London on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup.
