Newcastle United playmaker Bruno Guimaraes has heaped praise on Magpies' striker Alexander Isak after the Swedish frontman wrote his name into the Premier League record books.

On Tuesday, Isak became just the fourth played in history to score in eight consecutive Premier League games - joining Jamie Vardy, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Daniel Sturridge - as he fired Newcastle to a 3-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Isak's excellent form in the Premier League this season - third in the goal-scoring charts behind Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland - has seen him linked with moves to Arsenal and Barcelona, but the Magpies stance on selling their star man is clear.

Eddie Howe recently shut down claims of Isak moving away from St James' Park anytime soon, saying: "There's no part of me or anyone at Newcastle that wants to let Alex go. He's very much part of our long-term plans. He's first class."

And now, Brazilian midfield maestro Guimaraes has heaped praise on Isak off the back of his two-goal salvo against Wolves in midweek, showing exactly what his Newcastle teammates think of him.

Posting on Instagram, Guimaraes said: "Great victory at home! Very happy with the team’s performance. You deserve it for the player and person you are, Alexander Isak. We keep pushing for more. See you on Saturday, Geordies."

Isak has three-and-a-half years remaining on his deal at St James' Park and recently insisted he was focused on seeing out the remainder of the season with the Magpies.

“It feels really good. It’s been in the air for a while now, to get my first hat-trick for Newcastle. So, I’m super happy to have finally done it,” he said in December via Hallands Nyheter.
