Alexander Isak can be the next Alan Shearer if he doesn't do what I did
Alexander Isak can write his name into Newcastle United folkore if he commits his future to the club. That's according to Loic Remy, who saw first-hand the adoration scoring goals for the Magpies brings in just one season on Tyneside.
The French striker spent 12 months with United after signing on loan from Queen's Park Rangers in 2013, but opted against a permanent switch the following summer, instead preferring to join Premier League rivals Chelsea. There has been plenty of speculation over Isak's future too, although the Swede has repeatedly insisted he is happy at Newcastle - while the club have no intention of selling their star striker.
Remy admits it would take 'crazy money' to prise Isak away from St James' Park, and insists he can emulate club legend Alan Shearer if he stays on Tyneside and continues to score goals in the famous black-and-white shirt. But he did warn that a player of Isak's calibre will soon want to be competing for top honours - either with Newcastle or elsewhere.
“To get a good striker these days you have to spend at least £80million and Alexander Isak would be even more than that." he told Plejmo.com. "If you look at top strikers like Isak and Viktor Gyokeres, they will cost crazy money and although £150million seems insane to me, that’s what you will have to pay for a striker like Isak.
“Isak is flying at Newcastle, he is scoring goals and you can see how much the fans love him. He is so valuable and you never know what could happen in the transfer market, but he could decide to spend his career there and be the next Alan Shearer.
“If he sees himself elsewhere then he could step up to another Premier League squad, I could see him having success at Chelsea, but a good environment is so important for a striker. I would be curious to see him at a club competing for the title to see how he would get on, he is definitely ready for another step, but maybe he won’t want to do that.”

Isak is set to return to the starting line-up against Manchester City this weekend, after being rested for the FA Cup fourth-round win at Birmingham City. The Swede came on for the final seconds following an injury to Will Osula but has essentially had a week and a half to recover from the Carabao Cup win over Arsenal.
His goals this season has taken to him second place on Newcastle's all-time Premier League goalscorers list, with his double against Wolves in January putting him on 48 and edging him ahead of team-mate Callum Wilson, who has 47. However both are some way behind Shearer's total of 148 top-flight goals in United colours.
