Jamie Carragher is not the only one. Paul Merson and Jay Bothroyd have been among those pundits with ties to Arsenal who have strongly pushed the link while the Newcastle United striker was even welcomed 'home' by a Gunners supporter outside the players' entrance at the Emirates last month. No wonder Isak remarked that 'sometimes you see things that make you laugh' after the Sweden star was recently asked about the constant speculation surrounding his future.

Isak's commitment is certainly not in doubt and the 25-year-old made himself clear to Chunkz while working on a shoot with the Arsenal fan and YouTuber at Newcastle's training ground on Wednesday. "Agent Chunkz in action," Chunkz wrote. "Isak -> Arsenal imminent. Just joking. He said he loves Newcastle. I tried though."

Isak's response should not have come as a surprise. Isak has repeatedly said he is 'really happy' at Newcastle and the striker previously described playing for the Magpies as a 'dream', which was made 'extra special' by the club's fan base.

Newcastle also have no intention of losing Isak. Although Newcastle are in a strong position as it is - Isak still has more than three years left on his contract - the club intend to sit down with the Swede to discuss fresh terms. And why not?

After all, this is a player who has scored 54 goals in just 95 games since completing his club-record move from Real Sociedad in 2022. In fact, Isak has bagged 18 goals since the end of October.

You can see why football finance expert Kieran Maguire told ChronicleLive that tying Isak down would be the 'equivalent of signing a £100m player'. Few inside the club would disagree.
