Alexandre Lacazette hails Arsenal's Europa League run as chance to make amends for poor Premier League showing

Alexandre Lacazette is backing Arsenal to reclaim a Champions League position by winning the Europa League.

The Gunners earned their place in the Europa League final in Baku by thrashing Valencia 7-3 on aggregate.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s hat-trick saw them through in a 4-2 second-leg victory which threatened to go awry at times, with strike partner Lacazette bagging the other.

And the Frenchman has heaped praise upon the Gabon forward, insisting Arsenal can go all the way under the guile of Unai Emery and make up for a fifth or sixth-placed domestic finish.

"We have played badly in Premier League during the last month and now we have to use this opportunity,” the former Lyon man told BT Sport.

“We want to play in the Champions League next season and we want the trophy.

"We reacted well to going behind and we knew we had to score a minimum of one goal tonight.

“Auba was unbelievable tonight with an incredible hat-trick, so thanks to him.”

Former Borussia Dortmund man Aubameyang put Arsenal level on the night after Kevin Gameiro gave the hosts an early lead.

Lacazette put Arsenal ahead, before compatriot Gameiro struck again to level the second-leg score.

Aubameyang then blew Valencia away with two more goals to confirm Europa League master Unai Emery will yet again be in the final.

And the hat-trick hero told BT Sport Arsenal have evolved from last season, where they fell short at the same stage to Atletico Madrid.

He said: "We have learned from last season and this year we didn't make the same mistakes. Now we are through to the final."

"We have talked a lot about our relationship (with Lacazette) and it is a pleasure to play with him, above all when you win games like this.

“It is a final so it doesn't matter which team we play, we have to give everything and win."
