Internacional have fired in a final take it or leave it offer to Celtic for Alexandro Bernabei - with Palmeiras waiting in the wings.

The left-back was named in the Brazilian Serie A Team of the Year after an excellent campaign away from Parkhead. The original agreement between the two clubs included a buy clause - which needs to be met by the end of the month - which stands at a figure of around £7million.

However, they've given up hope of raising that amount and hope the Scottish champions will do a deal over a fresh loan agreement. It is stated in Brazil that the Porto Alegre club are 'not optimistic' Brendan Rodgers' men will agree to those terms and have resigned themselves to the fact they will not have the defender in their ranks. Big-spending Sao Paulo giants Palmeiras are waiting for the deadline to pass before making their move for Bernabei.

They are owned by Brazilian businesswoman Leila Pereira, who was named as in the top ten richest people in the South American country and bankrolls the club. And they would have no problem finding the funds to land the Celtic man.
