Erling Haaland's father Alfe-Inge has responded to Arsenal following the disappointing 5-1 defeat at the Emirates Stadium.

Haaland was on the scoresheet in the loss, scoring the equaliser in the second half. City were only on level terms for one minute before Arsenal ran away with the game.

Martin Odegaard opened the scoring after just two minutes, before Haaland equalised. Goals from Thomas Partey, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Kai Havertz and Ethan Nwaneri in the second half saw City fall to a disappointing loss.

Following the game, Arsenal shared a picture of Lewis-Skelly celebrating his goal with what appeared to be a dig towards Haaland by replicating the City striker’s celebration. Along with the picture, Arsenal added a caption reading: “THIS TEAM” along with a red heart emoji.

That message prompted a response from Haaland senior, who quoted the post along with a message that read: “«This Team» that wins everything. Ehhhhh, not.” He added a heart emoji in City’s sky blue.

The result and scoreline moves Arsenal to within six points of Liverpool at the top of the table. The leaders also have a game in hand over their rivals.

City, meanwhile sit in fourth place in the table with 41 points from their 24 games so far this season. It leaves Pep Guardiola’s team nine points behind Arsenal and 15 behind Liverpool with the Reds having played a game more.

Concentration may now be on securing a top four place. City are above fifth place Newcastle on goal difference, with Chelsea, who are one point behind both, in action against West Ham United on Monday night.
