Alfie Dorrington may have just responded to calls from Tottenham fans for him to feature in the Premier League clash against Wolves. Ange Postecoglou is dealing with quite the defensive injury crisis with the worst-case scenario being Yves Bissouma and Archie Gray starting at centre-back.

Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, despite both returning against Chelsea earlier this month, are out of action once again. Ben Davies soon joined the duo on the list of absentees and has since suffered a setback in his recovery which looks set to keep him out for another few weeks.

Radu Dragusin, having started 13 of the last 14 games in all competitions, suffered an ankle injury in the recent defeat to Nottingham Forest which has made him a huge doubt for Sunday's clash. "It's a bit early to tell," Postecoglou admitted when asked about the Romanian's injury.

"He tweaked his ankle and felt like he couldn't continue, so we'll have to wait and see. We'll wait until he gets in [for training] today [Friday] and assess him from there." If Dragusin is passed fit, him starting alongside Gray once again appears inevitable, but there is one other option despite the plaguing injury problems.

Academy defender Alfie Dorrington has been on the Spurs bench in recent weeks having played the final 15 minutes of the 5-0 victory against Southampton. The 19-year-old has been hit by some big injuries early into his career which may be why Postecoglou is reluctant to hand him a first Premier League start.

Despite that, he may no longer have a choice with Dorrington himself dropping a subtle hint that he could be involved at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Wolves. On Instagram, the teenager reposted a video of himself being given a haircut.

It was later deleted off his Instagram story but the point may still stand with other footballers often getting fresh trims before games in order to look and feel as good as possible. It could certainly be seen as clutching at straws, but such an action and Spurs' problems in his position, does make it possible he will start.
