Ally McCoist's hilarious Rangers radio prank leaves Jamie O'Hara red-faced as pundit admits 'you had me on toast'
A hilarious prank from Ally McCoist left radio pundit Jamie O'Hara with egg on his face following Rangers' Battle of Britain draw with Tottenham in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Ange Postecoglou's men were lucky to come away from Ibrox with a point, and had former Celtic stopper Fraser Forster to thank for pulling off a fine save from Cyriel Dessers after Dejan Kulusevski had cancelled out Hamza Igamane's opener. The draw has left the Gers in a strong position to reach the knockout rounds of the competition after picking up 11 points from their first six matches, while pressure continues to grow on Postecoglou who has managed just one win in the last eight games in all competitions.
And after the game, Ibrox hero McCoist called into talkSPORT's late night show with host Jason Cundy and former Spurs midfielder O'Hara, posing as a regular Rangers punter named Hamish. McCoist - who is a regular co-presenter on talkSPORT - said: “Different bracket tonight, I'm listening to you boys. I'm listening to O'Hara, and: 'It’s Spurs this, big Ange that'.

"The Rangers were different level tonight, come on J! It was unbelievable, I'm telling you! The substitutes - to be fair to big Ange, he made one or two changes, he brought [Dejan] Kulusevski on the right hand side, did well, and the boy, the big centre forward [Dominic Solanke], and they did alright, they changed it a little bit. But what about the save in the last minute!"
O'Hara continued to obliviously go along with the gag, praising Rangers' display before asking 'Hamish' about his team's below-par performance in the Premiership this season. O'Hara said: "I mean, listen, fair play to the Rangers. You've done well tonight.
"You played against a team who's far superior, and you gave a good account of yourselves. You're a good side in Europe. You get to the back end of tournaments and you do all right, but don't get carried away. You didn't turn us over and win 3-0. It was 1-1".
McCoist then agreed with that verdict and it wasn't until responding to the ex midfielder's next question that O'Hara finally a realised he was the victim of a stitch-up. O'Hara quipped: "Well, I don't really know. I mean, how have you been getting on in the league? It's been Aberdeen and Celtic, really, this year, hasn’t it?" before McCoist responded: "He said: I mean that tonight, the place was electric! Electric, I'm telling you!"
After putting two and two together, O'Hara suddenly became red-faced amid the laughter and added: “Honestly, I've been sucked right in here. I've just figured out who this is! It's McCoist this, isn't it? I did think: 'Hamish, the Rangers fan'. Oh, McCoist has phoned us up, he's had me on toast!"
Presenter Cundy was in on the joke and also poked fun at O'Hara's expense, saying: "Who do you think came up with Hamish, Ally? I just said the most Scottish name I could think of!" His radio partner continued to take the sting in good faith and finally retorted: “McCoist, you sucked me right in there! I was about to get the hump and start digging you out!"
