Alphonso Davies' new Bayern Munich contract makes Liverpool's next transfer simple
Liverpool's January transfer window was expected to pass without major incident and it was unsurprising to see that come to fruition on deadline day. Arne Slot is clearly happy with the current crop of Reds so why add new recruits in for the sake of it and potentially unsettle a very happy squad?
That being said, what Manchester City's dominance and subsequent fall from grace has taught us is that no team can afford to take their foot off the gas. Even if Liverpool were to win the Premier League title at a canter this season, which is still not a given, there are areas of the squad that they will want to improve in the summer.
Chief of which will be the left-back position. Andy Robertson has been a fine servant for the Reds and deserves to bow out of the squad gracefully.

However, football has no room for sentimentality and there will be an expectation that a replacement for him will be found in the summer ahead of his contract at Anfield expiring in 2026. Following the transfer window closing on Monday night, there were two options on the table for the Reds.
First was Alphonso Davies. It feels like the Canadian international has been around forever but yet he is only 24 and has a wealth of experience under his belt. Up until recently, he was set to become a free agent in the summer but on Tuesday that all changed.
Davies put pen to paper on a long-term deal with Bayern Munich and as such, has gone off limits for Liverpool heading into the next transfer window. But, there is now a very good 'Plan B' that Liverpool will surely look towards.
Milos Kerkez has been one of the surprise packages of the season down at Bournemouth and has flourished having added both goals and assists to his name. While he will have three years of his contract remaining with the Cherries by the time the summer comes, he is undoubtedly going to be cheaper than Davies and offers Liverpool a strong option for future years, especially considering how rare it is for a 21-year-old to be this established in the Premier League.
Antonee Robinson at Fulham has been another breath of fresh air this season and could be an outside candidate to arrive at Anfield. But considering he does not match the profile of recent Liverpool signings and he is six-years Kerkez's senior, it seems he would be an outside bet to move to Liverpool.
