'I am shocked' - Gary Neville highlights troubling Man United trend Ruben Amorim must stop
Manchester United legend Gary Neville can't believe how new signings in recent years have all struggled once they start representing the club.
United's previous manager Erik ten Hag made a number of signings in the summer but only Noussair Mazraoui has managed to impose himself overwhelmingly positively with his new club. Since Sir Alex Ferguson's departure in 2013, this has been a common trend as plenty of new signings find themselves struggling.
Now, as yet another new manager prepares for their first transfer window, Neville wants to see an end to this worrying trend. When asked by Sky Sports presenter David Jones if he had seen enough from Ruben Amorim's side to hint at future success, the 49-year-old told Monday Night Football: "I don't think any of us can be convinced David.

"What has happened in the last ten years and I've not seen enough yet to think it could be any different. What I am surprised about... I didn't hear anybody in the summer when United signed those three or four players say 'oh Man United have had a terrible transfer market.'
"I am shocked at how poor those players have been in the early months at this club. And it has happened again.
"I have said before that this club has been a bit of a graveyard for players who come with decent reputations. But when they signed those players like [Manuel] Ugarte, [Matthijs] De Ligt, [Leny] Yoro and [Joshua] Zirkzee, I didn't hear anybody say 'oh they have signed a load of bums'.
"They have signed some half-decent players there that you thought would improve the squad. The problem is when you have seen them play out here in a red shirt, they look like, actually, Man United are worse than they were before.
"So that's the bizarre thing, that is the odd thing that I am trying to keep continuing to work out because these lads haven't all of a sudden become bad players overnight when they come to Manchester United. But that is what seems to be the case, and it is happening again before our eyes."
