I Am Sure Jasprit Bumrah Will Work On His Run Up To Avoid Bowling No-Balls – Former South African Fast Bowler Monde Zondeki
Jasprit Bumrah played a key role in India‘s victory at Lord’s. His 34* with the bat and 3-wicket haul with the ball, which included the wicket of Joe Root, set up India’s triumph on Day 5. However, his long time no-ball issue once again was in the light.
He bowled a staggering 13 no-balls in England‘s first innings. He delivered a 10-ball over, which consisted of 4 no-balls, to James Anderson. Since his debut for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, Jasprit Bumrah has received criticism, and concern, of course, for regularly crossing the bowling crease; it cost India severely in the 2017 Champions Trophy when his no-ball gave a reprieve to Fakhar Zaman who went on to score a match-winning hundred.
Former South Africa fast bowler Monde Zondeki opines that this issue is because of his unique run-up. Zondeki, who featured in 6 Tests and 13 ODIs, reckoned the Indian pacer needs to work on his run-up to rectify this no-ball matter.
“I think bowling a 10-ball over is very rare. Since it’s very rare, working on your run up and putting work on it helps to avoid it,” Zondeki said while speaking to bdcrictime.
“I don’t remember having 4 no balls in my one over but I can tell that I had worked hard to not have a run up problem later in my life. Bumrah is a very good bowler and I am sure he will work on it to avoid it,” the 39-year-old added.

After the game, captain Virat Kohli was effusive in his praise for the pair of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami for their unbeaten 89-run 9th wicket stand in India’s second innings which took the game away from England after India had lost Rishabh Pant early.
The skipper said that both the pacer were spurred on by their batting which reflected in their bowling as well when they got rid of English openers in the first two overs.
“Just to applaud what Jasprit and Shami did… It takes a lot of character and heart to play under those circumstances as bowlers who don’t get much to bat, and just putting their hand up for the team when we needed it most, it was something that we were really proud of and we want to let them know. They were charged up and both took the new ball and got us two breakthroughs as well, which were very crucial for us,” Kohli said.
The Indian pace attack will get plenty of time to rest before the third Test which starts on August 25 at Headingley.
