Amadou Onana suffered a suspected hamstring injury in Aston Villa's 2-2 draw against Arsenal.

The midfielder was unable to continue in the first half after picking up the problem. He was replaced just after Villa conceded the first goal of the game, which was scored by Gabriel Martinelli.

The Arsenal winger bagged at the back post after getting in front of Ian Maatsen to turn in Leandro Trossard's cross. Lamare Bogarde was then brought into the action in place of Onana.

After full-time, Unai Emery was asked about Onana's injury and said: "I don’t know exactly. He was a doubt before the match. We have to test him tomorrow. It’s hamstring, but I don’t know [the severity]. He was not feeling comfortable or 100 per cent to continue."

Villa are already without midfielders John McGinn and Ross Barkley due to injury. Captain McGinn has returned to training on the grass, but was not fit to face Arsenal, while Barkley is nursing a calf issue.

Emery's side face AS Monaco in the Champions League on Tuesday night (5:45pm kick-off), before they then entertain West Ham at Villa Park. Games against Celtic and Wolves await the following week.
