Andres Garcia's teammate addresses Aston Villa transfer and sends parting message
Aston Villa are close to completing the signing of defender Andres Garcia in this January transfer window. Villa have been keen to add an extra layer of depth and cover to their back-line in this window and have identified Garcia as a young player with potential.
Villa, who have had a knack of making such additions in the last couple of January windows - last January they made prudent deals for the likes of Morgan Rogers and Kosta Nedeljkovic - have watched Garcia, who plays for La Liga 2 side Levante. He was left out of their squad, though, on Saturday as they beat Granada 3-1.
Garcia was replaced at right-back by fellow academy product Xavi Grande, who supposedly performed well in Garcia's absence; indeed teammate Angel Algobia, who scored one of Levante's three goals, complimented his young colleague on how he fared and likened his performance to a level Garcia himself has regularly produced.

Algobia also addressed Garcia's impending departure, wishing the defender good luck in the future and reasoning that a player's 'personal benefit' is part and parcel of each transfer window.
“I think all the players are important, the absence of Andres…. Xavi [Grande] had a very good game, on a par with Andres," Algobia told Super Deporte, via Sport Witness. "It shows that with the changes we give a plus. These are market situations, and the players are looking for their personal benefit and I wish them the best of luck, we are all important for that.”
