Ange Postecoglou admits doubt over striker move and explains why Cristian Romero trained with team
Ange Postecoglou has explained exactly why it was perfect for Cristian Romero to train with his Tottenham team-mates on Wednesday and admitted some doubts currently over Will Lankshear getting a loan move this month.
It was a boost to see the World Cup-winning centre-back back out on the training pitches at Hotspur Way on Wednesday morning before the team flew to Germany to beat Hoffenheim 3-2 the following evening. Postecoglou made it clear in his pre-match press conference ahead of that game that Romero was still a little way off being available to return to action.
On Friday the Spurs boss explained further why Romero was able to be involved in that session on Wednesday morning with the team and although he is still not ready to face Leicester this weekend, it was a perfect opportunity for both the player and his team-mates.

"We got him back training. Him and Micky [van de Ven] are the next cabs off the rank in terms of the long-term ones. They've still got a bit to do in terms of getting some training into them with the team," said Postecoglou.
"Obviously we haven't been training a lot and because the other day was sort of low tempo session, it was just good to get him involved, not just for him but the players involved because they need a bit of help and encouragement and Cuti training with them gives them a big lift.
"Micky's not too far away. These players will come back, knock on wood they're not deceased, they're just injured, so they will be all back so it's not all doom and gloom. It's good to see for the players as he's joined in training the last couple of days but he's still got a bit of work to do."
One piece of injury news that was not as positive this week was the realisation that Dominic Solanke's knee injury will keep him out for up to six weeks of the season, after he turned his knee awkwardly while taking a shot during a training session, without any challenge on him.
Richarlison is back from his own injury woes, although his fitness is still a long way off being where he needs it to be. The other knock-on effect is Solanke's injury casts some doubt over the intention to get 19-year-old Will Lankshear out on loan to increase his development.
The teenager came on for Son Heung-min late in the win in Germany and Postecoglou admitted that, depending on incomings, it might be difficult to let Lankshear head off at this moment.
"Yeah I mean we’ll just kind of assess it. Where we sit right now with Dom still being out, we’ve got to be mindful of leaving us with a further player short," said the Tottenham boss.
