Ange Postecoglou admits Tottenham are lucky to have Archie Gray as ex-Leeds United ace shines
Ange Postecoglou has heaped praise on Archie Gray for his exceptional impact at Tottenham, describing the 18-year-old's contribution as "fantastic" after Spurs halted their league slump with a 2-0 triumph over Brentford. The former Leeds United star managed to shackle Brentford's dynamic pair Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, who have netted a combined 25 goals this term, ensuring Tottenham's first league win in eight attempts.
Following on from his full match in Tottenham's 3-0 Europa League victory against Elfsborg, Postecoglou remarked on Gray's adaptability during Tottenham's rash of injuries: "It goes under the radar but the job Archie Gray’s doing is ridiculous," praised the Tottenham boss about Gray, originally a midfielder for the Whites, who's adapted to defence due to the squad's needs. Ben Davies too received accolades from the manager for his performance.
Spurs have faced a defensive quandary with Micky van de Ven just coming back from injury while Cristian Romero and Radu Dragusin are still recuperating, thrusting Gray into an unfamiliar role at the back.

The youngster's role in Spurs' defence remains an open question following the signing of Kevin Danso on loan from Lens with an obligation to buy. Still, there’s no denying Postecoglou's admiration for his recent displays.
The manager was all praise, "Who knows? You can’t lose sight of the fact he’s never played there before."
He added: "I just think he’s a fantastic player. I’m so pleased he’s at this football club. He’s a fantastic kid as well. He just wants to learn, no task is too much for him, he tackles everything with a real kind of calmness, that belies his years."
Postecoglou couldn't hide his enthusiasm, added: "He wants to learn, he wants to get better. We are just very, very fortunate to have him at our football club. Whatever position he ends up playing, he’s going to be outstanding. He has that attitude of wanting to improve, wanting to get better. He’s already set a high benchmark."
He marvelled at the player's adaptability. He said: "There aren’t many 18-year-olds who you could throw into the Premier League, play out of position in such an important area of the park, and handle it the way he has. Just brilliant."
