Ange Postecoglou dished out a brutal death stare during an angry confrontation with a fan as tensions flared after Tottenham's latest flop.

Leicester City inflicted more misery on the crisis-hit Spurs on Sunday as Postecoglou's side crashed to a dismal 2-1 home defeat against the second-bottom team in the Premier League. It marked a fourth consecutive top-flight loss for the Lilywhites, with the North London club now staring at a relegation battle as they languish 15th in the table, just eight points above the drop zone.

Fizzing punters unleashed a stinging banner aimed at Daniel Levy, calling for the under-fire chairman to relinquish control of the club after years of mediocrity. But a section of supporters also appear to be turning against ex-Celtic boss Postecoglou as Tottenham plunges from one calamity to another.

In a post-match video shared online, Postecoglou is seen acknowledging his players and giving a nod to the remaining fans inside the stadium before heading towards the tunnel. However, he was clearly miffed after overhearing shouts from fuming diehards who accused the Australian of dragging them closer to the bottom three, with one shouting, "You're going to take us down! We're going down with you!"

Despite initially ignoring the tirade and marching on, the 59-year-old astonishingly backtracked and gazed up at the fan. The tense moment lingered as Postecoglou stood under the weight of the punter's frustration before being ushered away by Tottenham staff. The Hoops Treble-winner didn't get involved in a war of words but was clearly unhappy with the abuse aimed at him.

Speaking after the damaging defeat, Postecoglou reiterated the urgency for the new signings to bolster his injury-ravaged squad. He said: "I've said all along, the players need help and I've also said the club are working hard in that area to try to alleviate some of those problems, because Pape Sarr shouldn't have played today. He obviously wasn't fit.

"The players are going out there and giving everything then can because we can't call off games. We've got another game in three days' time that these players have to front up for."
