Ange Postecoglou believes new signing Kevin Danso will be “a great fit” for Tottenham.

The Austria centre-back has joined on loan from Lens before he will move to north London on a permanent five-year deal for a £20.9million in the summer.

“Brilliant [to get him], I think Kevin will be a great fit for us,” Postecoglou told Sky Sports ahead of Sunday's Premier League game at Brentford.

“We’re a little bit short at the back, have been for a while and he’s just really experienced, a good one-on-one defender.

“I’ve said before that getting new players in gives us energy and will give the group energy.

“I’m looking forward to him being part of the group.”

Danso will be available to make his debut in Thursday's Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Liverpool at Anfield, with Spurs leading 1-0 from the first leg, provided he receives international clearance and a work permit in time.

Postecoglou was without a specialised centre-half at the Gtech Community Stadium, with Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven not fit enough to start and Radu Dragusin missing with a knee injury.

Midfielder Archie Gray and Ben Davies started the game at centre-half.
