Ange Postecoglou has admitted that Antonin Kinsky will make his FA Cup bow for Tottenham when they travel to Tamworth on Sunday in the third round.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper earned plenty of plaudits for his assured debut on Wednesday night in keeping a clean sheet against Liverpool in Spurs' 1-0 victory in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg. Kinsky had only completed his move from Slavia Prague three days beforehand for a deal that could be worth £12.5million including add-ons.

In Sunday's FA Cup tie against the non-league side on their artificial 3G pitch, Postecoglou could have handed another opportunity to Brandon Austin, who also impressed on his Tottenham debut against Newcastle in the previous game, or veteran goalkeeper Fraser Forster. When asked who will start - after a little joking around - the Australian pointed towards the young Czech and explained why he needs the minutes.

"I don’t see why I should name my team to you in here but Toni will start," he said with a grin. "The other thing about him, is that the Czech league shut down in the middle of December and he hadn’t played a competitive game in three weeks and he felt pretty rusty so it’s a good opportunity for us to get some more game time into him.

"He feels like he needs to play. He felt a bit rusty and it makes sense to give him another game and get him back in the group playing football. His last game was December 15/16 and like any player when you play you can get into the groove a bit quicker so another opportunity for us."

Postecoglou also hit out at the speculation around Rodrigo Bentancur after he suffered concussion early on in Wednesday's match and was taken to hospital. Some on social media immediately went for the worst case scenarios as the 27-year-old was being treated by medics and when asked whether the Uruguayan had hit his head on the turf to cause the concussion, the Tottenham boss took a swipe at those speculating.

"I don’t understand. We’re talking about people’s health and I’m sure you all protect your own medical records closely and wouldn’t want public speculation about it," he said. "We had this with Mikey [Moore]. [Rodrigo] was concussed. He’s had every check. Everything was fine. There’s nothing apart from the concussion and we will follow the concussion protocols.

"I find it really distasteful. We can literally say anything these days and people will take no offence or are not affronted by the fact people have no basis for anything. I’m not part of the medical profession. I rely on the information I get. He’s good. He was concussed. Everything else checks out fine and he will go through the protocols and aside form that we will make sure he is absolutely fine before he starts again."
