Ange Postecoglou reveals Tottenham stance for January transfer window after injury crisis
Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Tottenham will try and add reinforcements to their squad in the January transfer window. The north London club have been hit by an injury crisis in recent weeks and that has resulted in the Spurs boss working with a very limited number of first-team regulars.
Key players such as Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are just some of those who have been in the treatment room recently, meaning Postecoglou has had to operate with a makeshift backline for some big games in Tottenham's season. Things will hopefully soon start to ease up as the likes of Ben Davies, Mikey Moore and Richarlison return to full fitness following their respective issues.
Active in the January transfer market at the beginning of this year after bringing Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner to the club, Spurs need to do likewise come next month as they bid to ensure they have sufficient numbers to compete on all fronts. Already through to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup and in a good position to advance in the Europa League, Postecoglou is well aware that incomings are vital as the team's schedule is not going to ease up as they look to win silverware.

"I think, yeah, reinforcement. Like I said a while ago, we've been planning. A lot of it was going to be around where we're at around this time," said Postecoglou in his pre-match press conference. "Fair to say we're still a little bit short in a couple of areas and we need to reinforce. But January's trickier in terms of what sort of players you can bring in.
"For us, ideal — for any club, I guess — you want to bring in people who are going to make you stronger. I think the fact that, obviously, we're still in the Carabao Cup semi-final, still got Europe, FA Cup, we're in all the competitions, it's not like our schedule's going to ease up at any stage. So I think it makes sense. We will try and reinforce where and what number we'll have to wait and see."
January is very much going to be a balancing act for Postecoglou, Johan Lange and Tottenham as they aim to add numbers to their squad but not buy players just for the sake of it as they plot for the years ahead.
"Yeah that is the balancing act," he told football.london. "You don’t just want to panic and bring in anybody that you don’t think will help our cause in the back half of the year, but I think we’ve already shown we are pretty methodical and prudent about our work. We’ll make sure we’ll bring somebody in who is going to help us."
