Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham make Will Lankshear transfer decision ahead of January deadline
Tottenham youngster Will Lankshear is set to head out on loan for the remainder of the season prior to Monday's transfer deadline, football.london understands. The striker has been a regular in the Tottenham squad this campaign and has so far made six senior appearances for Ange Postecoglou's side.
In need of a loan move to help aid his development and pick up some regular first-team football in the process, Lankshear looks set to get that in what remains of the 2024/25 campaign. football.london understands that Championship sides Burnley, Middlesbrough, West Brom, Cardiff and Luton are among those interested in the 19-year-old.
Clubs abroad are also interested in the striker but Tottenham are keen for him to remain in the country and play in the Championship. Lankshear was part of the Spurs squad for Thursday's Europa League tie against Elfsborg but he remained an unused substitute for the 3-0 win.

Instead, Dane Scarlett was called upon from the bench and the striker opened the scoring with a brilliant header from Dejan Kulusevski's cross as he scored his first senior goal for Tottenham. Fellow youngsters Oyindamola Ajayi and Mikey Moore also registered their first Tottenham goals as they completed the scoring in the closing stages as Spurs secured a place in the Europa League round of 16.
Whereas Lankshear does look to be heading out of the exit door on a temporary basis, Scarlett will now be remaining in N17 to provide competition for Tottenham's strikers. Scarlett did start the season on loan at Oxford United but he was recalled last week with the expectation of heading out on loan again.
However, it is now at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium where he will be playing his football between now and May.
Speaking to the media about the academy graduate in his post-match press conference, Postecoglou said: "We had a look at his situation. He has had a couple of disappointing loans. I think sending him out again without any sort of real prospect of him developing, we just felt let’s keep him training with us and give him an opportunity to train with us and play with us and see how it goes."
