Ange Postecoglou's forgotten Tottenham man told to make beneficial Premier League January transfer
Facundo Buonanotte has called on Tottenham striker Alejo Veliz to join him at Leicester City in the January transfer window. Since moving to Spurs from Rosario Central in the summer of 2023, the frontman has been limited to eight Premier League appearances for the club and he has spent practically the whole of 2024 out on loan in Spain.
Joining Sevilla on a temporary basis at the beginning of the year, Veliz's move to Andalusia turned out to be a complete nightmare with only six appearances off the bench coming his way. Returning to Tottenham in pre-season and featuring in a couple of pre-season games before finding himself dropping down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou as Will Lankshear moved ahead of him, the 21-year-old returned to La Liga at the beginning of August as he penned a season-long loan deal with Espanyol.
Veliz has four goals to his name in 16 appearances so far, with three of his four strikes coming in a Copa del Rey win over lowly San Tirso. Very much in and out of the Espanyol starting XI in La Liga, the youngster has been an unused substitute in four of their last seven league fixtures.

Needing luck to be on his side in the second half of the campaign as he looks to make a case for regular Tottenham minutes next season, Veliz has been told to link up with Leicester by fellow countryman Buonanotte. The pair know each other very well following their time together in Argentina with Rosario Central and Buonanotte, who is currently on loan at the King Power Stadium from Brighton & Hove Albion, wants to link up with Veliz once again.
Speaking to Ole, the attacking midfielder believes that the opportunity for Veliz to work alongside experienced striker Jamie Vardy could help his game.
“I would tell Tanque [Alejo] Véliz to come here to learn from Jamie Vardy," said Buonanotte, as reported by Sport Witness. "He is on loan but now he is at Tottenham, so I think he knows about this. During the time we were at Central we made a nice duo."
Veliz will have to bide his time for his next Espanyol game as Spanish football is now on pause over the festive period. Espanyol will return to action on Saturday, January 11 with a home encounter against Leganes.
