Luke Williams did not get the response he was hoping for from his Swansea City outfit, admitting the South Wales side got exactly what they deserved at Hull City - nothing.

The Swans were beaten 2-1 at the MKM Stadium as the Tigers ended their worst run of form in 22 years, finally winning a game at the 14th time of asking, thanks to a goal in each half from Joao Pedro and Mason Burstow, a result which lifted the Tigers off the bottom of the Championship and out of the relegation zone in time for Christmas.

Though Harry Darling headed in Josh Tymon's cross eight minutes after the Tigers deservedly went in front before the break, a dominant second half showing from the hosts was deservedly rewarded when Burstow came off the bench to angle in a brilliant winner in the final ten minutes

The margin of victory could and should have been greater but for Gustavo Puerta and Ryan Longman hitting the post, while Regan Slater slammed wide from close range, having been left unmarked inside the six-yard box.

After calling out his players after last weekend's 3-2 home loss to Sunderland, having been 2-0 up, Williams was left furious again, delivering one of the shortest post-match press conferences seen at the MKM Stadium, lasting barely two minutes.

“I thought it was a dreadful performance and a result that matched it for us," he said. “I couldn’t tell you why we played like this, but we were certainly very, very poor. In fairness, I didn’t even celebrate our goal as, from a performance point of view, it was not good enough.

“I was hoping there would be a reaction (from the Sunderland game), but I don’t think we’re in that place as a group just yet. They were better than us. We played well against Sunderland for 45 minutes and then we were dreadful. I was disappointed, but I wasn’t expecting that. I didn’t think either side played particularly well, but I wasn’t expecting that – it was very, very disappointing.”
