'Annoying the manager most' - Harry Maguire identifies Manchester United's biggest problem
Defender Harry Maguire believes a lack of consistency has been "the most frustrating thing" for Manchester United this season, pinpointing it as one of their core issues.
After producing two positive and upbeat performances away at Liverpool and Arsenal earlier this month, United have since scraped past Southampton and been beaten 3-1 by Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford.
Head coach Ruben Amorim admitted ahead of last Thursday night's victory over Southampton, which was inspired by a late hat-trick from Amad, that he would learn more about his players in the Old Trafford double-header against the Saints and Seagulls than he had against Liverpool and Arsenal.

Sunday's 3-1 defeat to Brighton means United are still yet to secure back-to-back Premier League wins this season. They have also failed to win successive league games at Old Trafford since December 2023.
Ahead of tonight's big Europa League clash with Rangers in M16, Maguire has admitted that finding consistency is the biggest problem United have faced throughout the campaign.
"I think that's the most frustrating thing," Maguire told TNT Sports. "I think that's probably what's annoying the manager the most. We know we can produce high-level performances as we've proved this season, but we're just not doing it on a consistent basis, especially at Old Trafford where we're not performing as well as we can do. We know that."
The defeat to Brighton marked United's sixth home league defeat of the season. They have lost four of their last five outings at Old Trafford and Maguire knows it is simply not good enough.
He continued: "I don't know whether it's the pressure of playing at home in front of our crowd and us having to be on the front foot and to create the chances and score the goals. But if we want to be a success as a club, we've got to improve our own record."
