Anthony Cacace confirms world title decision as massive fight lies in wait
Anthony Cacace has confirmed which path he is going to take in 2025. Speculation had been mounting that the 'Andytown Apache' would vacate the IBF World super-featherweight title he sensationally won against Joe Cordina last May.
And the Belfast boxer has now confirmed he will give up the belt to chase more lucrative fights elsewhere as he looks to cement his legacy in the sport, and financial future for his family.
The 35-year-old said on social media: "Today I have decided to vacate my IBF World Title. Becoming a World Champion was an absolute dream and an incredibly proud moment for me.

"However at this stage of my career I only want the biggest fights possible, regardless of the belt on the line. I’m a prize fighter and my aim now is to secure mine and family's future and to create a legacy for myself in boxing by being involved in massive fights that fans will remember.
"Look forward to announcing my next fight very soon. Watch this space."
Cacace was due to meet number one challenger Eduardo 'Sugar' Nunez next, but it now appears he is in line to fight Michael Conlan's former nemesis Leigh Wood at The City Ground in Nottingham.
Wood knocked out Conlan in the final round of their 2022 Fight of the Year to defend his WBA featherweight belt.
Meanwhile, Cacace's promoter Frank Warren teased out the prospect of some big news for the Belfast fighter.
He said: "The fans want the biggest and best fights, which is exactly what we're going to deliver for Anto. Fight news coming soon; you won't be disappointed."
