It was a moment which perhaps summed up what makes this Newcastle United team so special. At 2-0 up against Wolves, Alexander Isak was played in by Joelinton, with the Swede bearing down Jose Sa in the visiting goal.

Having already grabbed a brace, few would have argued if the in-form striker went for a goal in a bid to land his first St James' Park hat-trick and add to his remarkable goalscoring run. But Eddie Howe has instilled a different mentality into this side.

It is all about the result and doing the right thing for the team, and so, with his first touch taking him slighly away from goal, Isak opted to slide a pass across goal for the onrushing Anthony Gordon. Even when that effort was blocked, Isak had the presence of mind to regain possession and calmly pick out the unmarked Gordon, who slotted home the third. Game over.

You need a selfish streak to be a top Premier League goalscorer, but the ability to be able to create chances on top of that is almost priceless. Gordon knows that all too well and his reaction said it all.

Footage from the game shows the United winger celebrating with Isak, and telling him 'That's so unselfish'. It may seem a minor comment, but it tells you all you need to know about the mentality in the squad.

The stats say it all. Not only is Isak United's top goalscorer, with his double against Wolves taking him to 17 for the season in all competitions, but he is also third on the club's Premier League assist record for the season, with his five contributions coming behind just Jacob Murphy (7) and Bruno Guimaraes (6).

Howe and the United coaching staff must take much of the credit for this. There was no finger pointing when things weren't going to plan earlier in the season - instead they took collectively responsibility to turn their fortunes around. And boy are they now reaping the rewards.
