Tottenham appear on the verge of announcing their first January signing with goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky joining from Slavia Prague. It will be a permanent transfer for the 21-year-old and he will cost Spurs £12.5million plus add-ons.

Ange Postecoglou and Johan Lange are clearly moving quickly to try and fix problems at the back with Fraser Forster playing the last 10 games after Guglielmo Vicario fractured his foot in November. "He's on schedule," Postecoglou said when asked for the latest on his progress.

"When it's a fracture, there's a set schedule for him being in a boot, how much weight bearing he can do, and then getting clearances along the way. So, he's still on the same timeline of the end of February." With his first-choice shot-stopper out for at least another seven weeks, the Lilywhites look to have found a solution.

Kinsky has 29 appearances in total for Slavia this season with four of those in the Europa League and six in the Champions League qualifying stages. In 14 of those, the Czech Republic international kept clean sheets and is widely-regarded as a future star for his national team.

With that being said, football.london has pulled together everything you need to know about Tottenham's newest signing.

Early life and career

Kinsky spent the majority of his youth career at Tempo Prague, participants of the fourth division of Czech football, who he joined when he was just six. In 2017, he signed for Bohemians 1905 before then joining first division side FK Dukla Prague just 12 months later.

At 17, he made his senior debut for Dukla Prague where he went on to make a total of seven appearances. Upon recognising his talent, Slavia Prague paid £132.808 (€160,000) for his services, according to transfermarkt. Loans to Vyskov and Pardubice followed before he became the club's No.1 at the start of this season.

Best attributes, what has been said and Cech link

Having been described by some as an all-rounder, Kinsky's range of distribution has been evident. In Slavia's European campaign, he boasts an impressive 83.9 per cent pass success rate.

Slavia Prague's under-17s assistant manager Jonathan Davies, via X, has labelled him "the best goalkeeper outside of Europe's top five leagues". He added: "There are no real weaknesses to his game. Young, a top shot stopper, commands his box, great hand eye coordination, able to play out calmly with both feet.

"I’d be amazed if he wasn’t in the Premier League and/or the Champions League (hopefully with Slavia) in the next two years."

It is perhaps no surprise Kinsky looks set to become an excellent goalkeeper given he is the son of Antonin Kinsky, who was the No.2 to Petr Cech during their run to the Euro 2004 semi-finals. He is also represented by Sport Invest, a company Cech has worked with, who are known for identifying the best Czech goalkeepers.
