Antonin Kinsky Tamworth vs Tottenham decision leaves Ange Postecoglou's player with two chances
Antonin Kinsky will make his second Tottenham appearance on Sunday when he starts in the FA Cup third round clash against Tamworth. Wowing on his Spurs debut in Wednesday's Carabao Cup victory over Liverpool, the Czech will be looking to make it two wins from two when his new club face their National League opponents.
Although Spurs are odds-on favourites to secure their place in round four, it could be quite the test for Kinsky at The Lamb Ground with Tamworth boasting long-throw specialist Tom Tonks in their side. The Staffordshire club have already proved to be troublesome opposition in this year's competition and Tottenham certainly won't have it easy against Andy Peaks' side.
Looking like a game where Brandon Austin would get another chance in goal after his heroics at home to Newcastle United last Saturday, the 26-year-old will have to settle for a place on the bench this weekend. Speaking to the media on Friday, Ange Postecoglou outlined exactly why he is opting for Kinsky between the sticks once again.

"I don’t see why I should name my team to you in here but Toni will start," said the Australian. "The other thing about him, is that the Czech league shut down in the middle of December and he hadn’t played a competitive game in three weeks and he felt pretty rusty so it’s a good opportunity for us to get some more game time into him.
"He feels like he needs to play. He felt a bit rusty and it makes sense to give him another game and get him back in the group playing football. His last game was December 15/16 and like any player when you play you can get into the groove a bit quicker so another opportunity for us."
You do have to feel a bit for Austin as his man-of-the-match display against Newcastle, which was on his senior debut for the club, was followed by the arrival of Kinsky less than 24 hours later. The academy graduate immediately dropped a place in the pecking order and possible first-team opportunities are going to be limited even further once Guglielmo Vicario returns to action.
Appearing a certainty to come into the side at Tamworth, that is unfortunately now not going to happen with Kinsky getting some more minutes in the tank to increase his match sharpness. As Vicario is not due to make his comeback until the end of February, the new signing does have the opportunity to really make a case for the No.1 spot as he will get an extended run in the team prior to the Italian fully recovering from the ankle injury he sustained in November.
However, the 21-year-old will unfortunately not be able to feature in two Tottenham Europa League games later this month. Clubs competing in UEFA competition are not permitted to make changes to their 25-man playing squad until after the league phase has come to a conclusion.
Even though Kinsky has already played in the Europa League for Slavia Prague this term, he can still be one of three Tottenham squad changes for the knockout phase providing of course that they do advance through to the next stage. That means the new man will have to watch on against Hoffenheim and Elfsborg, thus paving the way for Austin to come back into the team.
Postecoglou still has Fraser Forster to consider in goal but Austin will be hoping that he has done enough to be handed his second Tottenham start after his Newcastle display. Once again, it will be another waiting game for the long-serving goalkeeper.
