Tottenham fans will have their fingers crossed that the signing of Antonin Kinsky is followed up by further transfers for Ange Postecoglou over the coming days. Having to try and navigate a rather hectic schedule with limited players right now, the head coach has Kinsky as another option in goal going forward after the completion of his £12.5million transfer from Slavia Prague.

For Wednesday's Carabao Cup tie against Liverpool at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Postecoglou could potentially have Kinsky, Fraser Forster and Brandon Austin all to choose from. Austin was excellent in Saturday's defeat against Newcastle United and has certainly given the Australian something to think about over the next couple of days.

Even if Kinsky is to watch on from the bench or possibly the stands in midweek, an opportunity could be there for him on Sunday when Tottenham take on National League side Tamworth in the third round of the FA Cup. Tottenham are set to play plenty of cup football before the month is out as there is also the Europa League in addition to their Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup fixtures.

The change in format to UEFA's club competitions means that the newly-formed league phase does not finish until the end of January, whereas in previous years the group phase would conclude in December. Hoffenheim and Elfsborg are to come for Spurs as they look to clinch a place in the top eight of the league phase table and avoid a two-legged knockout fixture the following month.

Kinsky has already featured in the Europa League for Slavia Prague this season, with the Czech side in 29th position in the 36-team league after only winning one of their six games to date. The new Tottenham man will be unable to feature for his new club in their upcoming matches against Hoffenheim and Elfsborg as changes cannot be made to the playing squad until the league phase has finished.

Article 32:01 in the UEFA Europa League regulations states: "After the completion of the league phase and before the start of the knockout phase, a club may register a maximum of three new eligible players for the remaining matches in the current competition. Such registrations must be completed by 6 February 2025 (24:00 CET) at the latest."

Amid question marks over registering Kinsky as he has already played in the competition for Slavia Prague this term, article 32:03 reads: "Any or all of the players from the above quota may have been fielded for another club in the qualifying phase, play-offs or league phase of the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League or UEFA Conference League."

With clubs having the opportunity to make changes to their squad and register a maximum of three new players if they wish, anyone doing so must ensure that List A does not exceed 25 players. Tottenham have 23 players on List A at present but only because the size of their squad had to decrease by two due to only having two of the required four club-trained players, meaning Djed Spence and Sergio Reguilon were the unfortunate duo to miss out.

Amid the arrival of Kinsky, some possible further January transfer additions and Spence's importance to the team right now, Postecoglou and Spurs will have to take a closer look at their squad come the beginning of February if they are to advance to the next stage of the competition.
