Antony Manchester United exit route green light given as transfer details emerge
Real Betis 'are closing in on a deal' to sign Antony from Manchester United. The 24-year-old, who joined United for £82million from Ajax in August 2022, has failed to live up to his price tag since his move to Old Trafford and is now set to leave the club on loan this month.
Antony's first season in Manchester was not a disaster. He scored eight goals and added three assists in 44 appearances across all competitions and helped United win the Carabao Cup, reach the FA Cup final and finish third in the Premier League table.
However, that is as good as it has got for the Brazilian at United. He endured a nightmare 2023/24 campaign, scoring three times and providing two assists in 38 matches. A similar pattern has followed this season, with Antony finding the net just ONCE in 13 games.

This, alongside his lack of game time and failure to impress new United boss Ruben Amorim, has contributed to his expected departure. According to Fabrizio Romano, La Liga side Real Betis are on the verge of sealing a deal to take Antony on loan in the January window.
It's reported that 'final details of the agreement' are being discussed, with Antony set to join the Spanish side on loan until June with NO option to buy clause included. Antony has given the green light on a move to Seville, while United will cover part of his wages.
Meanwhile, Amorim was asked about a potential move for Antony in his pre-Brighton press conference. The Portuguese, however, revealed he is hoping to keep the ex-Ajax man at the club.
"Like I said, I want to keep my players, I'm focused on these players," Amorim said. "I don't know what is going to happen this window, we'll see. But he did a good job (against Southampton)."
