Archie Gray set for Brentford medical after Leeds teenager agrees transfer
Brentford appear to have won the race for Leeds teenager Archie Gray with a deal expected to be worth around £35million.
Standard Sport understands Chelsea were keen admirers of the versatile midfielder, while both Arsenal and Tottenham have also been linked.
But it is Brentford who are now closing in on a huge summer signing as talks over finalising an agreement with Championship side Leeds continue. Personal terms have been agreed and now a medical will be booked.
The 18-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season at boyhood club Leeds last season, making 52 appearances across right-back and midfield.
Gray, who has represented England at every age group level, was subsequently named Championship young player of the year for the 2023-24 season.
Reports have suggested that Leeds need to sell after failing to seal promotion back to the Premier League. The club missed out on automatic promotion, finishing third behind Leicester and Ipswich, and then lost the play-off final to Southampton.
Gray joined the Elland Road academy as an eight-year goal and made his senior debut at the beginning of last season.
