Arne Slot already clarified Harvey Elliott stance as Liverpool faces transfer interest
Harvey Elliott could well find himself the subject of transfer approaches this month, but Arne Slot doesn’t seem too interested in offloading the Liverpool midfielder.
The 21-year-old has found game time hard to come by this season, despite making such a promising end to the previous campaign under Jurgen Klopp. An injury early on in the season hasn’t helped matters, but Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones have since emerged as Slot’s preferred options for the No.10 role.
That, according to Sky Sports, has alerted a number of clubs from the Premier League and Bundesliga to Elliott’s potential availability this month. It’s claimed that Borussia Dortmund and Brighton are among those watching him closely, with a potential move either during the current window or in the summer being touted.

An exit for Elliott would come as a surprise given he has been a valued member of the squad in recent years, and despite his lack of playing time this season, he is still close to working his way into the first team.
Nevertheless, Liverpool have already sprung some surprises since Richard Hughes took over as sporting director, not least with the sale of promising midfielder Bobby Clark during the summer.
Whether Elliott could follow him out of the exit door remains to be seen, although Slot has indicated that he needs more time to get back up to speed this season following his injury - with the Liverpool boss willing to stay patient.
“We always want all of our players available and it was a blow for him and for us that he got injured for such a long time,” Slot said back in November after Elliott’s return.
“I think he’s been out for three months now. Now we also have to give him time to come back to his normal level.
“I just spoke about Ibou Konate who was out from playing football for maybe two, three or four months, because he didn’t play at the end of the season and didn’t play at the Euros. As a result of that his first game against Man United in pre-season wasn’t his best.
“That is something which is completely normal for a football player and this is something we have to take into consideration with Harvey as well.
“Yes, he’s training with us again, but that’s different from being on the top of your game immediately again. We have to give him time for this as well.
“But I’m very fortunate that he’s back, especially with the amount of games that are coming up in the coming two, three or four months.”
Liverpool.com says: There is absolutely no way Liverpool should be considering offloading Elliott this month, especially given the amount of the games the Reds will have to play between now and the end of the season.
Apart from anything else, Elliott deserves time to prove himself again, and show the sort of form he displayed toward the end of last season. We wouldn’t be keen on seeing him go at any point, but at the very least he needs to be given until the end of the season before Liverpool can make a decision on his future.
