Arne Slot already made Alexander Isak feelings clear as Liverpool transfer claim emerges
Arne Slot has already made it clear he’s a big fan of Alexander Isak as the Newcastle striker is linked with a move to Liverpool.
Isak is no stranger to transfer speculation, with Arsenal in particular being touted as a possible destination for him amid what has been a sensational run of form. The Sweden international has 17 goals in 24 appearances this season, including 15 in the Premier League.
Now, Liverpool is being credited with an interest, with Football Transfers suggesting that the Anfield hierarchy could look to add him to Slot’s ranks, having been keeping a close eye on him.

If they are, it would probably be a move that would get the approval of the Liverpool boss. Slot of course got a close-up view of Isak in action when the Reds drew 3-3 with Newcastle at St James’ Park in December, with the striker making his mark as usual.
Isak opened the scoring that day with a sensational strike that even left Liverpool’s head coach impressed. “Newcastle have so much quality throughout the squad but especially up front,” Slot said after the game.
“They were able to score goals – that’s not a surprise for me. The first one, pwah what a finish that. That shot from Isak – I don’t even know if Caoimh [Kelleher] saw that ball, as hard as it was.”
Whether Liverpool is truly interested in signing Isak is questionable, especially since recent reports have suggested Newcastle could demand more than $188m (£150m/€178m) for his signature.
The Reds though may well be in the market for a prolific goal-getter soon though. With Mohamed Salah’s future up in the air, and speculation of a move to Saudi Arabia growing, Liverpool could find itself needing to replace the Egyptian’s goals, and Isak would certainly go a long way toward that.
Isak himself has already made his feelings clear on Liverpool, having spoken glowingly about the club when discussing some of the best atmospheres he has played in.
"There are not many places like St James’ Park," Isak previously told Amazon Prime, via Newcastle World. "The atmosphere is very special and I think you can judge a stadium, not just on the atmosphere but how difficult it is to come as an away team. It’s a special place. I think people have a hard time coming to the stadium. I’d say Anfield is probably up there as well. The atmosphere is really good - it’s probably the toughest away game.”
