Arne Slot has already made Sam Beukema feelings clear after Liverpool transfer bid 'rejected'
Liverpool's pursuit of Bologna defender Sam Beukema has reportedly hit a stumbling block. Recent reports have indicated the Reds have had an offer rejected for the centre-back.
According to reports via 1000 Cuori Rossoblu, Bologna have turned down an offer from Liverpool's for Beukema, who has impressed since joining the Italian club last season. The Dutch's solid performances have earned him praise across Europe, attracting interest from multiple clubs.
Arne Slot, who is well-acquainted with Beukema, had attempted to sign him during his time at Feyenoord in 2021 after a standout season with Go Ahead Eagles in the Netherlands. Reflecting on the missed opportunity, Slot shared his admiration for Beukema’s abilities.

"I wanted to sign him," Slot revealed. "He had a great season at Go Ahead Eagles, and we were looking for a central defender."
Slot also jokingly suggested that Beukema made a questionable decision by joining Bologna over Feyenoord, especially after his former team went on to win the Eredivisie title in 2023.
"I think he chose the wrong club, because Feyenoord did a lot better than AZ [Alkmaar]," Slot added. "But in the end, he made a good transfer to Bologna, where he is doing well. Beukema is a very good player."
Beukema recently made his third appearance against a team managed by Slot following Bologna's meeting with Liverpool in the Champions League. Beukema is reportedly eager to take the next step in his career and follow in the footsteps of former teammates such as Joshua Zirkzee and Riccardo Calafiori.
Bologna, however, are reluctant to part ways with key players midway through the season, meaning any potential transfer for Beukema is expected to be delayed until the summer. Liverpool are claimed to be closely monitoring the defender, who is believed to be valued at around €25million (£20.9m).
It comes as no surprise that Liverpool may be keen to bolster their defensive options following fitness issues to Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate. However, several top clubs are believed to be in the mix for Beukema’s signature.
Earlier this season, the Dutchman expressed his admiration for the Reds, revealing that a future move to the Premier League would be a dream come true for him. "Slot messaged me and asked if I wanted to meet. Feyenoord is my childhood club, and I knew he would be their coach," Beukema said.
"I think he is one of the best coaches in the Netherlands and Europe. After our Champions League game against Liverpool, he paid tribute to us, saying it's incredible that we're competing at this level."
