Arne Slot confirms Luis Diaz plan after Liverpool handed double boost
Arne Slot has confirmed that Liverpool is likely to use Luis Diaz in a central berth again in the future having done so successfully in the last few weeks.
The Colombian scored a hat-trick there against Bayer Leverkusen while he also played in the middle against Manchester City and Real Madrid. With Diogo Jota out, having Diaz in the middle allowed Slot to fit Cody Gakpo into the side.
But even with Jota, Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott back available again, Slot says Diaz could play there more in the future. "People said a week ago that Darwin Nunez's numbers aren't high enough but he has now got a goal and an assist," Slot said during today's press conference.

"Lucho can play in that position. He has done very well for us in that role. He has played more games as a winger but we know he can do it. Darwin and Jota are there but Lucho is definitely an option."
Beating Southampton to book a place in the Carabao Cup semi-finals midweek, Elliott further added to the Liverpool attacking ranks by making his first start of the season. And Chiesa took the next step in his development by coming off the bench.
"Every time a player comes back from injury, it is a boost for the team," Slot said. "We need every player as we saw in the Fulham game, the way Jarell [Quansah] and Harvey came into the team. In this league, with cup competitions too, it is so important to have all your players back.
"Fede is getting stronger and better and you can see that on the pitch. He had to adapt for quite a long time and that is expected because he missed a lot of sessions at Juve. He went to a league where the intensity is so high. He is facing a lot of competition in the right wing position."
Liverpool.com says: Diaz has looked good through the middle and getting him and Gakpo as many minutes as possible is a good idea at the moment. That could well be the plan at Tottenham on Sunday. With Jota back, that is a big boost. Right now, though, the Portugal forward will face a fight to get back into the team.
