Arne Slot details Richard Hughes talks amid 'ongoing discussions' about two Liverpool transfers
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has confirmed that is engaged in dialogue with sporting director Richard Hughes on a daily basis - with talks over youngsters James McConnell and Jayden Danns potentially leaving on loan "ongoing".
The Reds are yet to make a permanent signing during the January transfer window, while speculation continues to abound over outgoings. Anfield boss Slot has already acknowledged that he is "happy" with his squad, as he looks to maintain his side's current placing at the top of the Premier League standings.
Chasing the English top flight title in his first season after succeeding Jurgen Klopp in the Kop hotseat, the Dutchman has defied pre-season expectations during the infancy of his reign. Now, the former Feyenoord helmsman has opened up on his conversations with colleague Hughes as they continue to assess their options during the final days of the transfer window.

Ahead of this weekend's clash with the sporting director's former club Bournemouth, Slot confirmed that he has been in contact with his peer as he looks to prepare his troops for battle. In a press conference before the trip to the South Coast, he said: "I speak to him before every game. We almost speak on a daily basis.
"I asked him a few things on Bournemouth. We have very good people who analyse Bournemouth, I have been doing this myself. The more info you can get, the better it is. My relationship with him is very good, from start until now."
As for dialogue in terms of transfer activity, Slot confirmed that he has spoken with Hughes about the prospect of Reds academy graduates McConnell and Danns potentially leaving on loan in the coming days. He divulged: "These are ongoing discussions.
"You know how it is, yesterday can be different from today and tomorrow. If I leave the training pitch and we have three injuries, it's going to be a different answer. These decisions will be pushed to end of window."
Meanwhile, Slot also gave an update on the situation when it comes to the contracts of senior trio Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah. With the Reds stalwarts just months away from being able to depart Anfield for free, Slot said of his conversations with the stars in question: "I speak to them a lot.
"It would be ridiculous if we had never spoken about the future. But that is not something I am going to discuss with you. It is not only with the three who are out of contract. It's a non-stop process talking to your players."
The Dutch coach also reserved praise for Hughes when it comes to the progress of his old club, with the Cherries currently sitting in seventh place in the league. He said: He is one of the many examples where Richard deserves credit.
"But not just Richard, their manager as well. You need quality and that is what Richard and his successor brought there. The manager has done a fantastic result. Justin [Kluivert] is a great talent. Good to see for us because he left Holland quite young. He is only 24 and at this level already. He will play another big talent who has grown up at Ajax in Ryan Gravenberch. Interesting match-up."
