After dismissing one of the Premier League's most in-form sides in AFC Bournemouth on Saturday, Liverpool are in prime position at the top of the table. Now their attention turns to another competition and another huge game.

The 2-0 win over the Cherries came courtesy of two Mohamed Salah goals and put the Reds nine points clear of Arsenal and Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening.

The Premier League title is looking increasingly in Arne Slot's grasp as a result. The Dutchman has the chance to win a clutch of prizes in his first season in charge though, with a spot in the League Cup final on the line next.

Tottenham Hotspur are the visitors to Anfield on Thursday night for the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final. Despite their rotten league form, Spurs were able to earn a 1-0 advantage in the first match between the two teams, albeit it came in controversial circumstances. Lucas Bergvall, who somehow escaped a red card minutes earlier, scored a late winner for Tottenham.

Liverpool will be confident of turning that deficit around though and with Wembley in sight, Slot will surely name a strong XI for the game.

Alisson Becker featured in the first leg and after a brilliant performance at Bournemouth he is set to retain his place. Ahead of him, Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk will start at centre-back, although there could be changes in the full-back positions.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is being assessed after his injury against Bournemouth, meaning Conor Bradley is in line to start. Meanwhile, Andy Robertson could be replaced by Kostas Tsimikas, with the Greek getting the nod in the first leg.

In midfield, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai have been in brilliant form lately, although Curtis Jones' excellent cameo against the Cherries will give Slot some food for thought.

Meanwhile, Diogo Jota's return to fitness gives Slot another option in attack. The Portuguese feels the most likely to force his way into the team ahead of Darwin Nunez, with Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz all starting at the Vitality Stadium.
