Arne Slot explains Trent Alexander-Arnold plan as Liverpool ace among subs
Liverpool boss Arne Slot says Trent Alexander-Arnold is not fit enough to play more than a few minutes at Goodison Park. But he has been named on the Reds bench for the final derby at the historic stadium.
"Trent was not close at all to start but he can come in for a few minutes," Slot said live on TNT Sports. "It is nice to have him because in the few games he has been on the bench he has come in and been special. We have more than a few good substitutes to make but it is good to have him too.
"If you look at our schedule we have five games in 15 days. If I would have played the starters at Plymouth that would have been six in 18 and if we went through it would have been seven in 21 days. It goes on and on and on - sometimes players need a rest."

Slot has gone with Conor Bradley from the start with Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson all starting in front of Alisson Becker. Ryan Gravenberch is joined in midfield by Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, while Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo are the front three.
"I think it's an extra reason why the atmosphere will probably be even better than all the occasions before." Slot said during his pre-match press conference. "I haven't been to one but people tell me at Goodison Park, as at Anfield, it's always a fantastic atmosphere.
"Home supporters are there to support their team and the away fans are mostly loud as well. It's probably going to be a fantastic atmosphere and that's never easy to play against because every single time they cross the halfway line, or they get a corner kick, or whatever happens, the fans will cheer for that."
