Liverpool's 19 loanees have had a mixed bag of experiences in the 2023-24 season, with Feyenoord boss Arne Slot set to take over from Jurgen Klopp and shape his new squad.

Slot is known for his knack of nurturing young talent, making him an ideal successor to Klopp, who has successfully integrated several academy graduates into his first team.

This season, a total of 19 young Reds have been sent out on loan. While not all are ready to make the leap to the first team, many will be hoping to impress Slot once he takes the reins at Anfield.

Here's how each of Liverpool's loanees have performed this term.

Calvin Ramsay

Ramsay joined Liverpool amid high expectations in the summer of 2022. However, his loan spells at Preston North End and Bolton Wanderers have been disappointing, with the Scot struggling to make his mark.

With just six appearances under his belt this term, It seems another loan stint will be necessary before he's ready to challenge Trent Alexander-Arnold and Conor Bradley for first-team action.

Rhys Williams

Williams' season has been far from successful, with the defender seeing more game time for Liverpool's Under-23s than during his loan spell at Aberdeen. The 23-year-old struggled to even secure a spot on the bench for the Dons, suggesting he's some distance away from breaking into Liverpool's first team despite his heroics back in the 2020/21 season. His contract runs until 2026.

Fábio Carvalho

Carvalho kicked off the season at RB Leipzig, but was largely utilized as a super sub by the Bundesliga outfit. After a fallout with Leipzig, he was shipped out to Hull, where he shone in their play-off push.

Despite falling just short of a push for promotion, the Portuguese U21 international stands a good chance of being promoted back into Liverpool's first team this summer.

Harvey Davies

Davies spent a significant part of the season as Crewe's number one goalkeeper, but has been absent from their squad during the final stretch. Although Caoimhín Kelleher's future might be up in the air, with transfer interest likely after he proved more than capable of being a Premier League number one, Davies may require another loan spell before he can be considered as a potential back-up for Alisson Becker.

Owen Beck

Beck has been one of the standout performers among Liverpool's loanees, impressing at Dundee. Prior to an injury in March, Beck had been a regular starter for the Scottish side, netting twice and providing four assists in 28 appearances to help them secure a top-half finish.

With doubts over Kostas Tsimikas' quality, Beck is a prime candidate for a first-team call-up.

Sepp van den Berg

Van den Berg has been one of the few bright spots in a dismal campaign for Mainz. The 05ers have been embroiled in a relegation battle all season, with the Dutchman sitting out just the one match.

With defense likely to be the priority for strengthening this summer, he could be called upon to step up and stake a claim.

Anderson Arroyo

Arroyo's future at Liverpool seems uncertain. Despite being a regular starter for Spanish second-tier side Burgos, the 24-year-old has seen Conor Bradley emerge as Trent Alexander-Arnold's top back-up at right-back.

Having joined Liverpool back in 2018, Arroyo has spent nearly all his subsequent time away from Anfield with various loan moves. A permanent sale this summer could be in the offing.

James Balagizi

Balagizi has had a challenging season, struggling to make an impact on loan at either Wigan or Kilmarnock. The 20-year-old midfielder has made just 13 appearances combined this term, and another loan move this summer appears to be his best option. He spent half a campaign on loan at Crawley last season, and a return could be an option should the Red Devils reach League One through the play-offs.

Dominic Corness

Corness has had a successful campaign at Yvderon-Sport in the Swiss Super League, helping them to likely avoid relegation as they sit nine points off the bottom two with just three games to go. The midfielder has made 21 appearances in all competitions, and has been missing since April through injury, so another loan move would probably be best for the 21-year-old's development.

Adam Lewis

Lewis has had a mixed season on loan at Newport County, having several spells out of a team that endured a disappointing year in League Two. He made 30 appearances in total, including 28 starts. This was his second spell at Rodney Parade and a permanent move to an EFL team might well be his most likely move this summer.

Jakub Ojrzyński

Ojrzyński, another young Red, has had mixed fortunes out on loan, with the Polish keeper spending much of the season as back-up at Dutch second-tier side Den Bosch. He will need regular game-time on loan next season if he is to convince his parent club that he has a future at Anfield, especially given the other goalkeepers currently on the books.

Billy Koumetio

Koumetio will be eager to put this season behind him as swiftly as possible. Initially loaned out to Dunkerque, a disagreement led to his recall to Anfield.

The defender was then dispatched to Blackburn Rovers, but failed to make a league appearance for the Championship outfit despite being named in the matchday squad 12 times, although he did feature in the FA Cup against Newcastle. It's unlikely he'll receive a call-up from Slot this summer.

Luke Hewitson

The 19-year-old has had a successful stint at Stalybridge Celtic, finishing in mid-table with the Greater Manchester outfit. The non-league team, which plies its trade in the Northern Premier League West division, was so impressed that they extended his loan in January, and another move to a higher league seems likely for Hewitson this summer in order to continue his development.

James Norris

Despite a challenging start to the season, Norris finished the campaign as Tranmere's first-choice left-back, starting the last five games of the campaign to help him to a total of 16 league appearances. With Rovers finishing mid-table in League Two after a resurgence following the arrival of manager Nigel Adkins, another loan spell would be beneficial for the 21-year-old's progression.

Tyler Morton

As the standout player in Hull's push for a Championship play-off spot, Morton seems best positioned for a call-up from Slot. He netted three goals and provided five assists in 41 appearances for the Tigers, and also shone on the international stage for England's Under-21s alongside Reds teammate Harvey Elliott.

Slot is likely looking forward to working with the young talent.

Nat Phillips

Following a tough spell at Celtic, Phillips has thrived at Preston. He's made 18 appearances for North End and proven himself a reliable senior option.

However, with his contract due to expire in 12 months and Phillips keen for more game time, it may be the right moment for Liverpool to sell. Fans will always have the memories of his heroics in the 2020/21 campaign, and of course that Cruyff turn against AC Milan.

Luca Stephenson

Stephenson has proven to be a versatile asset for Barrow this season, making 30 appearances in League Two, although he didn't add any goals or assists to his name. His team narrowly missed out on the play-offs in the third tier by just a point to Crawley, and another loan spell could be beneficial for him to secure a regular spot.

Vítězslav Jaroš

Should Kelleher decide to leave this summer, Jaroš is likely to be the first choice to fill his boots. The Czech goalkeeper has been turning heads with his performances for Sturm Graz in the Austrian Bundesliga, clinching the OFB Cup and putting them on the brink of the league title. With just one game remaining, Graz holds a two-point advantage over Red Bull Salzburg.

Luke Chambers

Chambers has a golden opportunity to break into Liverpool's first-team during pre-season after an impressive stint at Wigan in the latter half of this season. He spent the initial part of the year at Anfield, featuring in several Europa League matches.

A versatile option who can play either left-back or center-back, Chambers is certainly worth a look during pre-season. However, another loan move might be the best course of action for him.

Slot will certainly have plenty of decisions to make during pre-season. As Liverpool enters a new era though, there could be an opportunity for some of the players listed to catch his eye.
