Arne Slot gives update on Liverpool 'agreement' - 'Nothing confirmed yet'
Arne Slot has hinted that an agreement with Liverpool to become the club’s new head coach has not yet been reached. The Feyenoord boss though still expects a deal to be done.
The 45-year-old looks set to succeed Jürgen Klopp, with the German preparing for his final three games in charge, starting against Tottenham on Sunday. Slot though has suggested that the official confirmation may not arrive until the end of the season.
Slot has made no secret of his desire to become the next Liverpool boss. It seems though that Klopp’s expected successor is still waiting for the deal to get over the line.

Speaking at his press conference ahead of Feyenoord’s clash with PEC Zwolle on Sunday, Slot said (via 1908.nl): “Nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
“I'm sitting here with the Feyenoord emblem on my chest, so in principle the intention is that it will be about Feyenoord. I have said before that I am confident that it will be done. I don't know when that will be. But I expect an agreement will be reached.”
Slot’s confidence was clear to see as he sat down for the start of his press conference. When a journalist noted his sun tan, Slot joked: “Nice weather in England.”
He would clarify later though that he has not been in the UK this week, despite reports that his appointment could be confirmed soon. “I have been to England many times in my life, but not in recent days,” Slot said.
Slot also moved to try save any questions over his future until the end of the campaign, with Feyenoord, like Liverpool, facing three more games. “I will answer all questions after the season, but now I am there to get as many points as possible with Feyenoord.”
Liverpool.com says: Slot certainly seems confident that a deal will be done with Liverpool. You rarely hear of managers speaking so openly about their next job, so you’d have to imagine it is fairly well along in the process.
It could just be a case now of ironing out some of the details, and you’d imagine if he wants to bring some of his staff over from Feyenoord, that will take a bit more work on Liverpool’s side. There shouldn’t be too much concern over a delay at this moment in time anyway.
Fans may get a little more anxious if it continues after the end of the season, but Slot doesn’t strike you as someone who’s about to turn down the chance of moving to Anfield. It’s just a matter of waiting.
