Arne Slot has confirmed that Jarell Quansah was substituted versus Tottenham due to illness, but expects the center-back to be available for Saturday's game against Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup.

Quansah was replaced by Wataru Endo during the first half in North London and the assumption was that he had picked up an injury, but the fact that he didn't is a welcome boost, considering fellow center-back Joe Gomez only recently sustained a hamstring injury.

Meanwhile, Slot also revealed that Dominik Szoboszlai is on his way back having been missing recently due to illness: "Dom trained with the Under-21s yesterday, Jarell was a bit ill last week. As a result of that I had to take him off during the game vs Spurs but I'm expecting him to be available tomorrow."

Szoboszlai has not appeared in any of Liverpool's last three matches, having last turned out for the Reds' in the 3-1 win over Leicester on Boxing Day.

Meanwhile, Slot opened up on Harvey Elliott's lack of game time in recent weeks after the 21-year-old was linked with a move away from the club, with Sky Sports reporting that both Brighton and Borussia Dortmund are keen.

"He's a talented player, he's been with us for so long," Slot said. "In recent weeks, he comes in quite a lot and gets some minutes, but like it is for him and all the others, he is in competition with the other players.

"He's been unlucky with injury. What I've seen until now, with almost all of our players that have been out for quite a while, is that in this league, it is not so easy to come back and be at your best immediately. I see this with all of our players. That is the balance we have to find, to give playing time to get them back to their best level but still to be able to win every game. If you're 5-0 up, you can give players half an hour or a half, but that is not the way we have been winning games."
