Arne Slot to take up Jürgen Klopp offer as plan confirmed ahead of Liverpool manager appointment
It looks as though it’s just a matter of time before Arne Slot is confirmed as Liverpool’s new head coach. With just two games remaining in the season, the announcement could arrive soon.
The man himself has all but confirmed he will become the Reds’ new boss now. Slot appeared to be bidding farewell to Feyenoord fans during the club’s 5-0 win over PEC Zwolle on Sunday.
And the 45-year-old has been doing his homework ahead of his arrival at Anfield. Slot admitted to having watched the start of Liverpool’s 4-2 win over Tottenham on Sunday, including Mohamed Salah’s goal.

Not only that, but Jürgen Klopp has extended an offer to speak to Slot before he arrives on Merseyside. "I am not in a position to give advice. When new people come in, if they want to know something they can call me — the whole world has my number,” Klopp said before Sunday’s game.
"We can speak about absolutely everything, I love talking about everything in this club. I love talking with each person, it's no problem. But it's not about me or up to me to be available to ask he or she. It's no problem, I will give whatever I know about."
It’s an offer that Slot looks set to take up. Speaking after Feyenoord’s win on Sunday, the prospective new Liverpool boss made clear his intentions to speak to Klopp.
“I think it’s normal that if you go to a new club, and if that would be Liverpool, it is normal that you contact the former coach,” Slot said (via the Guardian). “I did this when I went to Feyenoord as well.
“It’s more than normal that, all the knowledge a person has that worked a few years at that club — and in his situation even nine years — that you contact him. Apart from that I know his assistant quite well, Pepijn Lijnders.
“But if there’s an official confirmation, when the season is done, it would be strange if I didn’t call him then.”
Liverpool.com says: We’re sure Klopp would be happy to speak to Slot before his arrival at Anfield. The Dutchman is clearly doing as much homework as he can before taking up his new job, and he seems excited by the challenge that lies ahead of him.
It will be a huge test to follow Klopp, but Slot has a similar playing style to the German, and from his recent interactions, he seems to have the charisma that will help get the fans onside as well. It’s just a matter of time now before he’s confirmed as the new Liverpool boss.
