Arne Slot: Liverpool make Feyenoord manager the leading candidate to succeed Jurgen Klopp
Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot is now the leading candidate to become new Liverpool manager.
Jurgen Klopp is leaving Anfield at the end of the season and the club have been busy making contact with potential successors, and Slot is now considered top of a three- to seven-man managerial shortlist.
Slot has enjoyed success at both Feyenoord and earlier AZ, which attracted Tottenham last summer before Ange Postecoglou was appointed.
The 45-year-old rejected Spurs last summer in favour of signing of a new contract, but is ready to leave the Dutch giants.
Xabi Alonso, who is staying at Bayer Leverkusen, and Ruben Amorim, also a target for West Ham, have also been linked. Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi remains of interest.
Liverpool remain open to other options and consider Bayern Munich a potential rival to Slot’s signature.
Liverpool are conducting an extensive process, led by new chief executive of football, Michael Edwards.
Edwards, who previously worked at Liverpool between 2016 and 2022, is using data-driven analysis to aid his search.
New Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes and director of research Will Spearman are also involved in finding Klopp's successor.
