Arne Slot makes honest admission after Plymouth as surprise Liverpool defeat explained
Liverpool boss Arne Slot admitted his side simply didn't do enough as it was knocked out of the FA Cup against Plymouth Argyle. The Dutchman also had no complaints about the penalty that was conceded by Harvey Elliott.
That spot kick, converted by Ryan Hardie, was the only goal of the game at Home Park. Plymouth, sitting bottom of the Championship, was able to hold onto its narrow lead, but Liverpool didn't do anywhere near enough to force the issue.
"There wasn't a lot to be happy about," Slot said during his post-match press conference. "The only thing I was happy about was that the boys kept on fighting for 100 minutes.

"The best part of our game was the last 10 minutes so that tells you that they kept on fighting. But credit to Plymouth. They had a good game plan and worked incredibly hard. They got a penalty that was the correct decision and that had a lot of impact on the game.
"Both teams had hardly any chances then you get a penalty. Again, a correct decision. But then they are 1-0 up and they fight until the end and the goalkeeper made one or two good saves. We hardly created anything at all."
"The intensity in which they moved the ball was very un-Liverpool," Reds legend Robbie Fowler said on ITV Sport. It took until the third minute of added time for Diogo Jota to have his first shot of the game.
"Slot could have had more [senior] players on the bench," former Liverpool youth player Craig Hignett said on BBC Radio Merseyside. "It was his choice not to bring Mohamed Salah or Cody Gakpo.
"As a manager, you live and die by your decisions. But at the end of the day, when he looks back and thinks about it, he might change his mind about one or two things he has done today and one of them would be to have more firepower on the bench."
Liverpool.com says: This was a big missed opportunity for the likes of Elliott and Federico Chiesa, who need to fight for more minutes. They didn't play well and Diogo Jota was isolated as a result. Slot made the right call to rotate and having one fewer competition to play in might not be the worst thing in the long term, but for now, the result will hurt.
